JJ Hairston is having the time of his life – and while his recent ascendancy on the music charts might seem sudden, the music powerhouse is no stranger to success.
Less we forget, JJ Hairston was the same man who gave us ”You’re Mighty,” “Resting on His Promise,” “Lord you’re Mighty,” and the ground-breaking praise song “Incredible God – Incredible Praise.”
Subsequently, It is no secret that JJ Hairston along with Youthful Praise had the biggest gospel song of 2017 leading into 2018. I am yet to experience another movement as great and profound as the song “You Deserve It.” If you don’t believe me, check this out: The You Deserve It project garnered the number one spot on the Billboard top gospel album, top gospel digital songs, media base gospel and the Christian/gospel digital albums charts. Then there were the Grammy and Dove awards nominations. Lastly, let us not forget his recent nine stellar award wins at the Stellar Awards.
Well, recently, JJ Hairston and Youthful Praise were in Jamaica for the Unity in the City concert in collaboration with the Jamaican leg of the Travis Greene’s Crossover Tour. Leaving the band to pack up the gears to make way for Travis Greene and his band, JJ invited Harvest backstage to talk music and operating in the right timing immediately after his performance.
“Oh my God! Coming here met all my expectations. The people were jumping, dancing and singing the words to all my songs. I love Jamaica, and I am so happy to be here.” This JJ told me after I asked him about his performance.
As the frontman of the smashing and gifted Youthful Praise, JJ Hairston is now one of the most talked about artist. JJ blames this great impact on operating in the right timing. “I know now that I wasn’t prepared for this ten years ago. The success that the album and single “You Deserve It” has achieved is incredible, and I want to thank God for holding me up and allowing me to grow before he let things grow.”
Ironically, it is for this reason why JJ Hairston is enjoying the fruits of his labor and having the time of his life.
JJ Hairston is no newbie. His music career stretches way back to the release of the album Awesome God in 20012. Ever since then, JJ Hairston and Youthful Praise have been producing hits after hit.
When asked about operating out of season, he had this to say: “Operating out of season will bring you to a place where you cannot handle where you are. Somewhere along the line, you will stumble. After all, Gods plan and will for us is perfect! He knows what we can and cannot handle. ”
JJ Hairston music is just as fluid and trending, as his style. Recently he earned three nominations at the Billboard music awards for the top gospel artist, top gospel album, and the top gospel song. It is great to be JJ right now, and I cannot wait to experience where he takes us next.
