Her New York Times bestseller LaBelle Cuisine: Recipes to Sing About, which sold more than 300,000 copies, established her as a cooking star. Today, Patti's baking skills have the country buzzing. In Fall 2015, a fan's YouTube review of her sweet potato pie became a viral sensation, with over 20 million views. In just one weekend, her pies were completely sold out at Wal-Mart stores across the country.
Now, for the first time, fans of Patti's pie can make their own, as well as other amazing sweets! Filled with her favorite recipes for pies, cakes, cookies, and puddings, as well as a chapter on diabetic-friendly recipes, moving personal stories from her career and life, this is the most personal cookbook LaBelle has written. Every fan of soul and sweets will want to own it.
We caught up with Patti LaBelle today at Barnes & Noble in New York City as she released her 75 recipe cookbook, Desserts LaBelle - Soulful Sweets to Sing About
Patti says her other cookbook was all cuisine and no desserts and now this book is all desserts. Lawd! Did we say 75 dessert recipes?!!
She dedicates the book to the women whose recipes molded her cooking identity and whose wisdom molded her core identity: her mother, Bertha "chubby" Holte, and her aunts, Hattie Mae Sibley and Joshia Mae James. From them she learned the secrets to baking rich and fulfilling soulful desserts..and the keys to living a rich and fulfilling soul-filled life.
The hardcover cookbook is wonderfully photographed and includes mouthwatering recipes. Love Me Tender Pies, New Attitude Desserts, cookies from The Cookie Jar, and Patti-Style Tips, Tricks and Techniques that are sure to make you a better baker. Her world famous Sweet Potato Pie, Peach Cobbler and Banana Pudding are all included in the book, but Patti thinks her Red Velvet Cake with cocoa will also be a fan favorite. Ms. Patti can't promise yours will taste as good as hers, but she thinks if you follow the instructions and are "feeling it" you'll have great results.
Let me suggest you run - don't walk, run and get your copy at your local bookstore today!
