Book Review: CLING choosing a lifestyle of Intimacy with God

Kim Cash Tate has had her share of disappointments, from tough times in childhood to difficult events with her own children. She discovered that the soul-level connection she felt with God during one particularly rough time was the direct result of her clinging to God, of purposely seeking intimacy with him day after day.
God had commanded his people, the Israelites, to do this very thing as they were about to enter the Promised Land after 40 years of wandering in the wilderness:
“You shall fear the Lord your God; you shall serve Him and cling to Him, and you shall swear by His name.” —Deuteronomy 10:20
In her new book, Cling: Choosing a Lifestyle of Intimacy with God (Discovery House, March 2017), Tate explores intimacy with God from various angles, including the ways he has already been moving toward us to establish intimacy. She looks at how we can cultivate a lifestyle of intimacy, how God uses trials and suffering to draw us to him, and even how we sometimes drive wedges between ourselves and God.
“Clinging to God is the source of ultimate blessing and protection, of inexplicable joy and peace,” says Tate in the introduction to Cling. “Within his embrace is a place we can be strong and courageous in the Lord—because we know he is with us and we are with him.”
